Admitted to the Supreme Court of Western Australia and the High Court of Australia in 2012, Charles is a Senior Associate in our commercial and property team.

Charles practices predominantly in commercial, property and business law matters, where he has represented a wide range of clients including high net worth family groups, public companies and private individuals as well as property developers, real estate agencies, strata companies and strata managers. He enjoys guiding clients to achieve their desired goals by taking a pragmatic approach and offers tailored advice to suit the needs of the clients while being focused on their commercial objectives.

Charles' experience includes:

  • Preparing and advising on a range of commercial documents, such as terms and conditions of trade, disclaimers, warranties and releases, shareholder agreements, unitholder agreements, share sale agreements, assets and business sale agreements and policies.
  • Assisting clients with due diligence process and advising on the acquisition and sale of businesses.
  • Advising on projects and transaction finance including application, discharge and enforcement of mortgages, guarantees and other funding arrangements. This includes drafting of deed of development and dispositions, joint venture agreements, land use and control documents, securities and trusts.
  • A broad range of property and development project matters involving the sale and acquisition of commercial, retail, industrial, residential, strata and rural property, and retirement villages. This includes complex or non-standard property transactions such as off-the-plan sale contracts, put and call option arrangements.
  • Commercial and retail leasing matters and licence arrangements, including advising on and drafting of commercial and retail leases, and liquor licensing requirements.
  • Providing advice in relation to strata titles, including ongoing obligations of strata companies and the rights of strata title owners, and drafting of by-laws.
  • Advising on adverse possession claims, caveatable interests, easements, restrictive covenants, mortgages and guarantees, property settlements and property trusts.
